Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) unitholders will received 7.70 sen per unit divident and 0.10 sen bonus for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2013. This dividend decreased from last year which unitholder get 7.75 sen.
Tha ASB unit holders total 8.26 million who collectively hold 127.2 billion ASB units. Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) Chairman, Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid said that eventhough this year dividend slightly lower compare to last year, the dividend still competitive amid the global economic uncertainty.
He said during income distribution
“This rate is also not the lowest that PNB has declared. In 2009, the income distribution declared was 8.65 sen per unit.
“In fact, we can declare a dividend of 10.54 sen per unit for the current financial year, but we brought forward 2.71 sen per unit to help the fund’s portfolio to become more competitive in future,”
The divident income from investee companies contributed RM4.41 billion which consist of 44.5 per cent of gross income while the profit from the shares contributed RM4.0 billion or 40.3 percent. He said that the balance was derived from other incomes. All transactions for ASB at ASNB head office, ASNB branch offices and agents have been suspended beginning Dec 18, 2013 until Jan 1, 2014 to facilitate the calculation of income distribution and bonus.
It is still good for ASB unitholders as there’s still dividend this year. It look safe investment for Malaysian citizen. For me, I don’t have enough money in ASB and it won’t impact on my financial. For those ASB unitholders, hope you use the dividend wisely. Don’t just waste it.
