Another good news for some of us as the BR1M come again. The applications for the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) 2014 will opened from December 23, 2013 to Jan 31, 2014. For those who had received the BR1M before, you only need to update the personal particulars such as address, bank account and information on next of kin.
New applicants can register online or fill the application form which can be obtained free of charge during the period. The BR1M 2014 application form can be obtained at the branch offices and service centres of the Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), Federal Development Department and Social Welfare Department or download from the LHDN website at www.hasil.gov.my.
The BR1M 2014 will be paid from February 2014 for eligible applicants. The BR1M payment for households with a total monthly income of RM3,000 and less will be raised from RM500-RM650. Payment for single individuals aged 21 and above earning not more than RM2,000 a month would be increased from RM250 to RM300. People aged 60 and above and living alone would also receive a rise in the payment from RM500-600.
This initiative from government will benefit almost 5.9 million households as well as two million unmarried individuals in the country. For details, you can call 1-800-88-2716 hotline from Dec 23 from Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm or visit their website at http://www.hasil.gov.my/indexbi.php

It is good for low middle income but I think government must increase the salary income as many people around that get RM3,001-RM5,000 also need the BR1M especially for those work at big cities and have many children. Unfortunately, I can’t apply as my salary is above RM2,000 and I’m single. Quite sad as the money could help me to cover my wedding expenses that will be held on February.
For non-Malaysian reader, how about your country? Did your government have similar programme like this?
